Richard Brown
Richard Brown is a forty something living in Cornwall and acting on His dreams. Why a capital H? Because as a Christian when I referred to God, Jesus, or Him I always write with a capital H. So I was punning on the letter H. What I mean is that I am in Lostwithiel because I feel called to be here. Plus of course it is a totally cool place.
Some might say to me live your own life. Don’t allow God to dictate to you. Well two answers to that, one I tried living my own life and I failed…. and secondly He doesn’t dictate. I ask Him to be involved in my life and to guide and lead me. Dictatorship is where one forces his will on another. No force needed on this one. I am open to hear from God.
Dreams…. “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37 v 8 That I find exciting. If I delight myself in God, He will give me the desires of my heart. I am open to His desires and He says He wants to give me them.
So what are my desires (dreams as I referred to them as above). Well I got married ten years ago to a beautiful friend called Anna. Tick them one. We have 2 fantastic children Abigail and Mia, a dog called Muffin and a cat called Coco. Tick that one. Build a house – not there yet.

Why a snail?
Why a snail? It has been asked many a time and so to cut a short story long, I love them. The intricacies of the shell, the smooth glide through love. They are to me one of God’s fascinating creations.
Snails move by alternating body contractions with stretching, with a proverbially low speed (1 mm/s is a typical speed for adult Helix lucorum [1]). They produce mucus in order to aid locomotion by reducing friction. The mucus also reduces the snail’s risk of injury. Snails also have a mantle that covers the internal organ which is called a foot.
Snails are found everywhere – land, sea and freshwater. They mostly are vegetarian although some can be omnivorous – which actually surprises me. I have never seen a snail barbecue!
I also once spent hours rescuing snails. Mum and dad got worried because I was late home and came searching along with most of the neighbourhood and police. They found me several miles away rescuing snails. I think I was 7!
Life Choices
Having left work in March to become a Web Designer I offer these tips to a safer business:
1. Pray – personally I find when I get God involved life gets into more perspective.
2. Family and friends are your most important asset. Don’t miss out on them just to get that job done.
3. Be yourself – I am an easy going relaxed and chill sort of guy. A business adviser said to me to get a suit. A suit – it’s just not me. I find the best technique of selling yourself is to be yourself.
4. Develop relationships. Always keep in contact with the client even when the job is done.
5. Enjoy what you’re doing – if you don’t do something different. Even if it means a radical change in your lifestyle.
6. Never be afraid to ask for help. Don’t just ask for help when you’re in trouble – ask for help when all is going well. It will enable you to be better prepared for the future.
7. Always be ready to offer help. Even if it costs you in time and money.
8. Never take it out on somebody or something else – always be ready to take responsibility for your own actions.
9. Don’t squash snails – ok what I mean is appreciate the small things in life. And don’t squash snails.

Romans 12 v 1
Ten things I am thankful for
1. God’s Love
Because it has restored my soul and spirit without comment and without the need for qualification. It is freely given – my choice and what a choice. I have found that daily God is waiting for me to chat, to chill, to be my friend, to be my Father. He excites my passion for nature and simplicity and gives me joy unknowing.
And what do I do for Him – nothing more than say here I am!
2. Anna my wife
Wow – my wife is amazing. A huge amount of qualities. She loves God, she loves me, she is so intelligent (she’s a doctor – PhD), so beautiful, so full of fun, not lazy, dedicated, devoted and soon to be mother of our child. She is chilled, loyal, passionate, loves nature, similar in life’s values and life’s goals. And she got me – not much other than I love her and would die for her.
3. Abigail and Mia my daughters
It is incredible to think that I could love them more. They are so fantastic. I enjoy sitting and watching them, chatting to them, tickling them and I can’t wait for more. They are growing up to be such fun and actually a pain as well!
4. My dog Muffin and my cat Coco
Muffin is a Cocker Spaniel and is totally mad and Coco is a black and white cat and is totally mad!
5. My Family
Tanya, Toby, Jane and Mum and Dad. They have all been so good to me. Faults in the loads but they don’t matter. I love them all along with all their children, Rachel and Hannah, Louis and Samuel, Simon, Adam and Holly.
6. Friends
They come and go but two that have stayed with me over time are Huw and Dan. Amazing guys, both in love with God and both an inspiration to me.
7. The Bible
This really is my Bible. The most interesting thought provoking read ever. But more importantly it tells me all about God, who I love very much and who I want to know more.
8. Pizza
Thanks to the Italians for this one!
9. Apple Macs
What superb computers they make. Talk to a Windows user and they will tell you all that is wrong with there computers. Talk to a Mac user and they will tell you why there computer is so beautiful, well designed, fun to use, in short they will gush about them!
10. Morris Minors
Beautiful cars made in a brilliant way. I mourn the loss of my latest one.
